CAMP LEADER

Camp Kiah conducts a therapeutic based camp program for young people aged 7-17 years.

We are always looking for fun, caring and some-what responsible staff to make sure that we are able to create an atmosphere that promotes engaged relationship formation as the foundation to promote fun, playful and safe experiences.

We are located in Wallan - all our programs run out on location here, we have onsite activities and base our group and 1:1 work on site.

Your goal as a Camp Leader is to assist with creating a fun and safe environment where the young people of Camp Kiah are able to express themselves and feel a sense of belonging whilst always being treated with respect and understanding. Camp Leaders report directly to the Camp Kiah Program Coordinators.

Core responsibilities -

● Engage with young people on both a group and individual level

● Lead or Support any designated activities

● Support in-camp meal preparations

● Assist with purchasing and storing required materials for each camp

● Complete administration and reporting responsibilities

● Ensure young people are supervised at all times (Ratio of staff to young people = 1:4)

● Sleep in the designated area or outside (tents)

● Set rules / boundaries for the young people to follow and support young people to adhere

● Sit with young people in times of self-reflection

● Adhere to the camp program and guidelines at all times

● Facilitate transport of young people

Employment Requirements -

- Drivers license

- A valid WWCC and National Police Check / willing and eligible to obtain one prior to commencement

- First Aid

- Flexible availability - must be willing to work weekends and overnight shifts

Yes! We love placement students and many of our crew started out that way and just stayed.

CAN I PLEASE VOLUNTEER ?

We are always looking for volunteers and have seen many of them transfer into paid staff once they felt comfortable, confident and capable in the role.
